We are pleased to announce that our HLY-W400KN double-station horizontal insulator Tensile Testing Machine has completed its final inspection and is now ready for shipment to our customer.

The HLY-W400KN is a computer controlled, hydraulically driven horizontal machine built for long and short specimens, and is used for the tensile testing of insulators, power fittings, ground wires, overhead insulated conductors, power cables, wire rope, ACSR/AW conductors, chains, shackles and lifting belts. Its long horizontal test space is designed for large, long-length specimens, so that full-size samples can be tested at full size.

Two independent stations, each rated at 400 kN for a total of 800 kN, allow two series of specimens to be mounted at the same time, and two sets of adjustable suspension devices support the samples along the frame. A servo-hydraulic single-rod bidirectional cylinder applies the load, while a precision spoke load cell and a micron-resolution displacement sensor feed a three closed-loop control system that switches smoothly and without shock between constant stress, uniform deformation and constant displacement control.

Insulator testing normally has to be combined with temperature cycling, so the machine carries an Environmental chamber of 3.6 m³ with a test space of 1000 mm x 800 mm x 4500 mm, covering -60 °C to +100 °C with a fluctuation within ±0.5 °C, a deviation within ±2 °C and a uniformity within 2 °C. Temperature, tensile load, test time and cycle number are displayed on one interface and recorded together, and the load can be held for 96 hours or longer, with the holding time set freely.

The frame is manufactured to the safety requirements of the EU Machinery Directive 2006 and fitted with a fully automatic cylinder safety shield, electronic limit protection and an overload cut-out that alarms and stops the machine if the load exceeds the maximum by 3 %. The hydraulic station uses an Italian ATOS servo valve, a German ECKERLE internal gear pump and an ABB motor, and test data can be uploaded through a dedicated port to the State Grid data platform.

The machine is designed to ASTM A370, ASTM E4, E8 and E9, ISO 6892, ISO 7438, ISO 7500-1, EN 10002-4, GB/T 228 and GB 16491, and every process is controlled according to ISO 9001.
